Just A Little Update …

As many of you know, I was honored to serve as the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) president from July 2021 until July 2022. It was both a rewarding and challenging experience. During that time, I continued to serve my estate planning clients while traveling extensively all over the state, overseeing numerous committees, speaking at, and attending countless meetings. I enjoyed the experience, but since then, I have been able to spend considerably more time with my family (we even went on our dream vacation, a safari in Africa) and started working myself back in shape from too many road trip meals combined with too few gym visits! That said, once my role transitioned from President to Immediate Past President and I rolled off the board, I remained very involved with the OSBA. For example, the current Bar President appointed me to Chair the Executive Compensation Committee, which is responsible for the employment contract and annual compensation for our CEO. In light of the bar association’s non-profit status, our committee periodically retains a company to do a like kind of salary study to guide us in salary for the CEO. At the national level, I am an officer and on the Council (Board) of the ABA Solo Small Firm and General Practice Division. I’m the Division Revenue Director and essentially responsible for the finances on the revenue side of the Division. This Division serves as the national voice for the small firm attorney. I am also an Ohio Delegate in the ABA House of Delegates, which is the policy-making entity of the ABA. It is designed to be representative of the legal profession of the United States. It elects the officers of the association and the members of the Board of Governors.

So, I am still very active with both the OSBA and the ABA, but otherwise, I am here at my office, available to current clients and accepting new ones. One final note, as much as I enjoy advancing the legal profession and spending my time with my colleagues in the OSBA and ABA, I still find the most satisfaction from helping my clients protect their hard-earned assets and loved ones. Nothing is more important than family, whether that means a spouse, children, grandchildren, or even pets. I genuinely enjoy helping clients achieve the peace of mind of knowing their affairs are in order.
