Many see spring as a time to get ready to spend time outdoors, do some home maintenance chores, and make plans for summer vacation. A few items you might want to add to your spring to-do list include:
- Get your bicycle (and the kids’ bikes) tuned up. The bike shops are already busy, so the sooner, the better.
- Have your county park sticker renewed, and plan to visit some of the parks you’ve not seen in a while. And check out the activities they have for the whole family.
- Inspect, clean, and replace outdoor furniture if needed so you have a comfy spot to enjoy the outdoors. Maybe it’s even time to check into a fire pit for the backyard?
- Now is the time to tackle those homeowner chores and get them out of the way. I call it “Up-Down-All-Around” time.
- Up: Get your roof checked. How is it handling all the wind advisory days? And don’t forget the chimney. Get it checked and cleaned now so it’s safe and ready for next winter.
- Down: When was the last time you had the foundation checked for termites? Has it been a while? Don’t delay.
- All Around:Inspect the windows, siding, and masonry. Does anything look like it needs repair or replacement? And don’t forget the AC unit. Be proactive; have it serviced BEFORE you need it.
And now to the fun stuff. Planning your summer vacation! Experts say that the very act of planning our vacations brings us joy. They also say that tourist travel is expected to increase dramatically this summer. International travel will be up 30%. Two hundred nineteen million Americans will be out there vacationing. This means you probably shouldn’t delay making reservations for that special beachfront condo or cabin in the mountains. And I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t remind you that you should make sure your estate plan is up-to-date before you hit the road (or board the plane) this summer. You know, just in case. If you’re already an estate planning client of mine, I’d like to remind you that I offer a complimentary review every three years to help ensure everything is current. Why not get in touch today and check that one off the list? I wish you all a safe and happy April!
